I am going to add the antihistamine protocol for my FET. It involves taking Claritin, Pepcid and Prednisone starting a few days before the transfer and then continuing it through the first weeks of pregnancy (if I am so luck to get pregnant). My mom explained to me the protocol, basically the high dose steroid is to break down the immune system so that the body cannot fight the embryo away and then the Pepcid and Claritin work together. I don't know all the scientific information about it and quite frankly I am too tired to care, but it is supposed to help in cases where there was a previous early miscarriage. So check.
I am not sure how many patients are currently on this protocol, but I suspect it is being used more frequently now. I am hopeful that between the different lining protocol and this new one, I will have covered my basis and this time will be different.
Oh please let it be different.

So glad you were able to get on the protocol. I hope it is the magical cocktail for both of us!
ReplyDeleteThat immune protocol is interesting. I hope so much this time is different for you!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting...I've had two early's m/c's too...first because it was a molar and 2nd most likely due to my inversion. All the times in between...good question. I'll ask Dr. Sc. when we have our pre-tranfer appt after the CCS report gets back. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of that protocol. I use Humira (immune suppressant) and then Intralipid infusions. Got my NK and TH1/TH2 levels down for my first IVF very successfully (and I got a BFP that lasted until the embryo stopped growing around 9 weeks -- nothing to do with my immune system), so we'll be repeating it for IVF #3 (IVF #2 used only Intralipid, and we never got to a transfer).
ReplyDeleteHope it works well for you!
Wow. That sounds very thorough. Sending you lots of good energy for your FET!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Maddy
I asked about that too. I bet they are wondering why so many people are asking about that now. My local doc wants me to continue with Heparin, but pills are so much better than shots. By the way, I did get an October date as well - the 29th. I think I got the last one.

whatever cocktail it is that you're taking, i hope it ends with you *not* being able to have any kind of cocktail for nine months!
ReplyDeletegood luck :)

I am so intrigued by this protocol--the medical person in me needs to know the science! But then again, we all know it's as much art as it is science. All that matters is that it WORKS!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree wiyh b35.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel good about adding this protocol. SO hoping this time will be different for you!
ReplyDeleteCan you please help me understand why this was recommended for you?
ReplyDeleteI think you're very smart to give this a shot. You just never know, right? I'm hoping & praying this time is different. You are so overdue for a break.
